David Higgins added a one-under 71 to his opening 68 but lies six strokes behind England's Robert Coles heading into the final round of the PGA Playoffs at Walton Heath.
The Waterville man is tied for sixth place on five-under-par after Coles shot 65 to lead by one stroke on 11-under from Scotland's Paul O'Hara in the £25,000 season-ending event.
Damien McGrane is eight strokes off the pace on three-under-par after a 73 with Tulfarris Golf Resort's Simon Thornton tied for 15th after a pair of level par 72s.
Subject to confirmation by the European Tour, the top four after today's final round will earn places in next year’s BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth with the top two earning places in the British Masters.
There are also four spots up for grabs in both the Northern Ireland Open and Scottish Challenge and three in the English Challenge, all subject to confirmation by the Tour.
