BMW X2 Rendered in Convertible Guise. Proper Rival for Evoque?

In the SUV world, Range Rover models have their own place. Their prowess off road makes them stand out compared to basically anything else Mercedes-Benz, Audi or even BMW has on sale. And yet, they also look absolutely stunning, in most cases. One of the exceptions is the Range Rover Evoque Convertible though which seems a bit odd without its usual roof, using a retracting, textile one instead.

And right now, the convertible Evoque is all alone in the droptop SUV niche and things must be getting lonely. One other manufacturer had an attempt at making such a car before, but the Nissan Murano was a big fail eventually. Maybe the timing was wrong but with the SUV craze that’s taking over the world today, there’s definitely room for open top enjoyment in this segment. Therefore, why wouldn’t BMW try and make a rival for the Evoque?

The rendering we’re looking at here takes the stylish BMW X2 that was just unveiled and transforms it into an even more enticing proposition. Whether it would be a success or not, remains to be seen, but the work put in by X-Tomi Design definitely seems to make it an enticing proposal. BMW never mentioned even considering such a contraption but the truth of the matter is stranger things have happened in the past.

Now, as far as you’re concerned, what do you think about a possible BMW X2? Would it be an interesting approach, something that could be explored or does the idea test your gag reflex as soon as you see even the most outlandish renderings?
