Even with the new BMW G80 M3’s release looming, the appeal of the good old BMW E46 M3 isn’t waning in any way. After all, it was dubbed by many as the best looking M3 ever to be made. Furthermore, this generation of the BMW M3 features one of the best sounding engines ever to grace the streets.
The 3.2-liter naturally aspirated engine, producing 343 horsepower and 269 lb-ft (365 Nm) of torque. Certainly, way less than the current F80 M3 and probably even lesser than the upcoming G80 M3. But, the E46 M3 is still a potent machine. It can sprint from 0-62 mph (0-100km/h) in around 5.1 seconds. Like with every other civilian production car from the German Big Three, the M3’s top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph (250 km/h) – some special edition models, however, will achieve a top speed of 171.38 mph (275.81 km/h).
While the vehicle doesn’t need a look in terms of exterior modifications to make it pop, for many owners, adding a set of aftermarket wheels is a must to keep its looks relevant. This particular Laguna Seca Blue finished BMW M3 comes with a rather fitting set of wheels: HRE 540 wheels. First released in the early ’90s, the HRE 540 quickly became the norm for most American muscle and German high-performance machines, quickly becoming one of the hottest selling wheels on the market.
And a few months back, the California-based wheel company has revived the 540 mesh style for their 40th Anniversary in 2018. The wheels were re-engineered to work with today’s most exclusive sports cars and SUVs, bringing a little bit of the 90s back to enjoy. Featuring a modular three-piece construction with a step lip, these look right at home on this BMW M3. For this particular build done by Wheels Boutique, the wheels are machined in sizes of 19×9 in the front and 19×10 in the rear. They feature a Brushed Gold Center with a Polished Clear Lip finish combination, working well with the Laguna Seca Blue exterior of this vehicle.
