Dundalk's Caolan Rafferty is six shots off the lead heading into the final round of the European Nations Cup in Spain.
On a day when just five players broke par, the recently crowned West of Ireland champion shot a two-over 74 to share sixth place on seven-over par at Real Club de Golf de Sotogrande.
Tom Sloman posted a level par 72 to lead by two strokes from Spain's Eduard Rousaud on one-over and help England lead the team standings by eight strokes from the Netherlands on 12-over.
Ireland are tied for third with hosts Spain on 23-over as Portmarnock's Conor Purcell shot 75 and Kilkenny's Mark Power a 74 to share 11th place on eight-over.
An 80 by Naas' Robert Brazill, leaving him tied 56th on 239, was Ireland's discarded score.
