BMW 7 Series LCI Rendered in M7 Touring Guise Remains Distant Dream

Hushed whispers of a BMW M7 have been going around almost since the Motorsport division and the 7 Series model coexisted. People saw what the M engineers are capable of and thought about a powerful mix between the luxury of the 7er and ever since. However, the Germans have repeatedly rejected the idea on a number of counts, the most important being that the 7 Series is simply too big to be worthy of the M treatment.

The closest we ever got was with the only M Performance model launched in the 7 Series range so far, the M760Li xDrive. In the latest iteration, to come out later this year, the M760Li xDrive has 585 HP to rely on from its twin-turbo 6.6-liter V12 engine under the hood and that’s plenty even for a luxobarge like this. In a straight line, this thing will be hard to keep up with, even when compared against other ludicrously powerful machines of its size, the Audi S8 and Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG.

However, it’s in the bends that a possible M7 would be deemed too soft by the engineers over in Munich. That’s the main reason why an M7 will never see the light of day, let alone an M7 Touring, like the crazy rendering proposed here by Aksyonov Nikita. The man truly did us a solid here, by following some details to the millimeter. The front end features the massive grilles of the revamped 7 Series along with the bumper of the M5, while round the back we have four tailpipes and a mean diffuser in between. Even the side mirrors look the part, one element M fanboys care way too much about, in my opinion.

And while all of this looks great, it will remain a dream for now as BMW has no plans whatsoever to bring it to life. A Touring version of the 7 Series is out of the question from the get go and even if that did happen, Touring cars are not exactly known for their M versions.
