The Dacia 1300 was a popular car in the Communist Romania with the “1300” being used for the engine displacement. The first Dacia 1300 left the assembly line in 1969 and until 2004 with the Dacia 1310, nearly 2 million units were built. In standard form, the Dacia 1300 made around 55 horsepower and it offered barely any comfort inside.
But the model we’re looking at here today is not your regular Dacia. Instead, its owner has decided to tune it up quite a bit. First, the body of the 1300 gets an all-wheel drive system, which is now needed considering the power under hood. From a 1.8 liter turbocharged engine (its manufacturer is unknown), the Dacia 1300 deliver 500 horsepower to all four wheels.
So to see how the Dacia stacks against a well polished and premium car, the owner went a drag race to take on a BMW 335d xDrive Touring, a car that makes, in standard form, 310 horsepower, it also has an all-wheel drive system and runs to 62 mph in about 4.8 seconds.
But to keep a level playing field, the BMW Touring was also tuned up to deliver 500 horsepower, while weighing considerably more.
The result?
