Photoshoot: 1800 Horsepower In One Place

Once again, IND Distribution doesn’t fail to impress us. The aftermarket tuner brought together three rather interesting BMW F90 M5 models, giving us a taste of what 1800 horsepower in one place looks like. All three M5s are in the first stages of the craze we call aftermarket tuning, and by the looks of it, their owners are bitten by the modding bug just right.

All three cars are configured differently: the Black Sapphire Metallic M5 features the Aragon Brown Full Merino Leather, the Snapper Rocks Blue Metallic M5 features the same Aragon Brown Full Merino Leather and the Alpine White M5 comes with a Black Full Merino Leather interior.

For the most part, these exterior color choices will make up the bulk of the orders in the early stages of the F90 M5’s production lifecycle. They bring out the clear and clean monochrome finishes – Alpine White and Black Sapphire, while the newly-introduced Snapper Rocks Blue brings that much-needed dose of color to this platform. We’re interested to see what kind of BMW Individual finishes owners go with the F90 M5, especially considering the sharp and aggressive lines of this vehicle.

Here’s a rundown of the aftermarket parts installed on each vehicle:

Recently, IND put their Snapper Rocks Blue Metallic BMW F90 M5 through its pace on the dyno and the results were impressive, to say the least. The BMW F90 M5 is powered by a 4.4 Liter BMW TwinPower Turbo engine, delivering (according to factory specifications) 600 horsepower and 553lb-ft of torque. The 8-speed M steptronic automatic transmission, powering all four wheels, allows the M5 of this generation to sprint from 0-62mph (0-100km/h) in just 3.2 seconds. However, IND Distribution got some much more interesting results from their dyno run.

Thanks to some chili Illinois weather the morning of the dyno test, the BMW M5 posted the best run in 5th gear/AWD/Sport Plus – a surprising 625 wheel horsepower and 608 lb/ft torque. According to the tuner, in all settings, the power was linear and the difference between Sport Plus and Efficient only being about 15 horsepower. Additionally, IND did one run in 6th gear in full RWD/Sport Plus mode, and hit the speed limiter at about 152mph/244kph, power maxing out at 593 wheel horsepower and 578 lb/ft torque.

The Snapper Rocks Blue Metallic M5 will undoubtedly receive numerous aftermarket upgrades in the forthcoming weeks. The same could be said about the other too, but we’ll keep you posted on all three. Grab a look at these three beasts together in the photoshoot right below.
