Seventh collegiate win for Leona; Martin and Wilson shine in Paris

Ireland's Leona Maguire celebrates his third win of the year and seventh for Duke University

World amateur No 1  Leona Maguire closed with a two-under-par 70 to win the ACC Championship individual title for the second time, claiming her third win of the year and her seventh career win for Duke University.

The Co. Cavan star was tied for the lead with a round to go after rounds of 68 and 72 but her 70 saw her finish two strokes ahead of Wake Forest’s Jennifer Kupcho on six-under par 2010.

With seven collegiate wins, Leona is third in the history of Duke University and joins Amanda Blumenherst (3), Brittany Lang (2) and Jenny Chuasiriporn (2) as multiple ACC individual medalists from the Blue Devils.  

Duke also claimed the ACC Championship with a five-under-par 54-hole total of 859 to win by nine strokes at the Reserve Golf Club in Pawleys Island, South Carolina from Florida State (868).  Miami (874), North Carolina (876) and Clemson (877).

Mairead Martin and Annabel Wilson into last eight in Paris

Killarney's Mairead Martin beat Sweden's Julia Engstrom on the 19th, then despatched her compatriot Frida Kinhult two up in the afternoon to reach the last eight of the French Under-21 Girls' Open Championship at Paris St Cloud.

The Kerry star now faces another Swede in Beatrice Wallin in the quarter-finals of the Esmond Trophy while Lurgan's Annabel Wilson takes on France's Margot Bechaderque in the quarter-finals of the Under-19 Cartier Trophy.

Annabel beat Lois Lau of France 3 and 1 in her first round match.
